Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh won in the 2023 winter season competition for the sixth time in a row – this time at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver series in Slovakia’s Banská Bystrica, Suspilne reports.
The competition started with a height of 1.70 meters. Mahuchikh jumped for the first time to an altitude of 1.91 m and took it on the first attempt. The 2022 World Championship medalist, Italian Elena Vallortigara, the medalist of the Euro-2022, Marija Vuković from Montenegro, and another Ukrainian athlete, Kateryna Tabashnyk, also overtook this altitude.
Mahuchikh missed the 1.93 m and returned to the sector at 1.95 m, successfully taking this height on the first attempt.
The winner was determined at the height of 1.97 m. Only Yaroslava Mahuchikh overcame that height – again on the first attempt. Therefore, only three jumps were enough for the Ukrainian to win.
Left alone in the sector, Yaroslava still tried to jump 2.04 m, which would have been the best season result in the world, but without success.
