The UWC’s International Educational Coordinating Council (IECC) is partnering up with the Third World Forum of Ukrainian Studies Saturday and Sunday Schools. The event has been organized by the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations and is scheduled to happen between August 21–23 in Lviv.
This year, the forum is dedicated to the memory of Anna Kisil and Stefan Romaniw – prominent leaders of the Ukrainian World Congress and figures in the Ukrainian movement abroad, who dedicated their lives and tireless work to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian World Congress is to be represented at the forum by Lyuba Lyubchyk, UWC’s IECC Chair, and Andriy Shevchenko, Head of the UWC Mission to Ukraine. Over 200 participants from 28 countries are set to participate.
“This is an event that is held to unite everyone who cares about the Ukrainian language and Ukrainian education in the world. It is a communication platform that aims to find answers to the challenges faced by the Ukrainian educational community abroad in connection with a full-scale war and mass emigration of Ukrainians,” the organizers have written.
Attendees will engage in a wide range of discussions, with topics including; the decolonization of Ukrainian education abroad; the methodology of Ukrainian study topics; new challenges facing Ukrainian schooling abroad; the state of the Ukrainian language today; and the future vision of the Ukrainian language globally.
The event has been organized for educators from Ukraine and beyond. Participants will include practitioners and scholars, government representatives, Ukrainian cultural centers abroad, public activists, as well as anyone interested in issues related to Ukrainian education abroad.
