The Ukrainian World Congress welcomes the passage in the United States House of Representatives on 25 July 2017 and the United States Senate on the 27 July 2017 of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (HR 3364).
The bipartisan bill strengthens the ability of Congress to oversee the implementation of critical sanctions against specifically Iran, the Russian Federation, and North Korea for their dangerous and belligerent actions that undermine the United States and its allies. In the case of the Russian Federation, sanctions were implemented in response to its illegal annexation of Crimea and invasion of Eastern Ukrainian territories.
“The Ukrainian World Congress urges President of the United States Donald Trump to expeditiously sign the legislation into law as an important step toward ensuring an end to the aggression of the Russian Federation and subsequently, securing peace and stability in the region,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
