The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes the meeting on 20 June 2017 in Washington between President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of the United States Donald Trump, and the recent actions in support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
On 20 June 2017 the United States Treasury sanctioned 38 additional individuals and entities related to continued occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation.
On 15 June 2017 U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy signed a Memorandum of Understanding reaffirming the U.S. Congress-Rada Parliamentary Exchange.
On 15 June 2017 the U.S. Senate passed a new sanctions regime targeting the Russian Federation’s mining, metal, shipping, and railway sectors, part of its energy sector, and individuals who have conducted business with its intelligence or defence sectors. This draft legislation that would enact into law existing sanctions on the Russian Federation imposed following its invasion of Ukraine has been appended to a universally supported sanctions bill against the nation of Iran titled Countering Iran’s Destabilizing Activities Act.
