The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes the extension of sanctions by the United States and the European Union in support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
On 2 March 2016, U.S. President Barack Obama extended a series of sanctions against Russia for one year until March 2017, citing a continuing threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States constituted by the actions and policies of persons that undermine democratic processes and institutions in Ukraine.
On 10 March 2016, the European Union extended sanctions for another six months until September 2016 against individuals and entities involved in the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
“The Ukrainian World Congress welcomes the extension of sanctions and urges the international community to firmly maintain its position on full adherence to the basic principle of the inviolability of borders of independent states,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
