The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes the decision on 6 September 2017 by the European Union to extend individual restrictive measures for an additional six months for the violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Asset freezes and visa bans are enforced for 149 officials from the Russian Federation and Russian-backed separatists in Eastern Ukraine, as well as 38 legal entities.

The measures were introduced in March 2014. They were last extended in March 2017 until 15 September 2017. The UWC has actively promoted the extension of sanctions against individuals and legal entities from the Russian Federation until it fully complies with the Minsk agreements and de‑occupies Crimea.

“The Ukrainian World Congress calls upon the international community to remain vigilant and united in maintaining targeted sanctions against individuals and legal entities who continue to undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
