UWC welcomes extension by Council of European Union of sanctions against Russian Federation in response to illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes the extension by the Council of the European Union of sanctions against the Russian Federation for one year until 23 June 2018.

The sanctions which restrict economic relations were introduced in response to the illegal annexation by the Russian Federation of Crimea and Sevastopol in 2014 and include prohibitions on imports, certain exports, investment, and the supply of tourism services to Crimea.

“The Ukrainian World Congress urges the international community to remain fully committed to the territorial integrity of Ukraine maintaining sanctions against the Russian Federation until the Minsk agreements are fully implemented and Crimea and Sevastopol revert to Ukrainian control,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
