UWC welcomes efforts by Ukraine to strengthen relations with global Ukrainians

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes the recent initiatives by the President and Government of Ukraine to strengthen ties with the global Ukrainian diaspora by establishing a robust institutional framework for effective cooperation.  

“We look forward to supporting the President and Government of Ukraine in developing a framework to strengthen relations between Ukraine and its diaspora,” stated UWC President Paul Grod. “We call on authorities to abide by the principle of – Nothing about the Ukrainian diaspora without the Ukrainian diaspora.” 

“We endorse the Ukrainian government’s commitment to developing a comprehensive policy for the global Ukrainian diaspora. Unity is crucial as Ukraine faces an existential threat from Russian aggression. With close to 60 years of history and a presence in nearly 80 countries, the UWC has much to offer,” said UWC President Paul Grod. 

Throughout the 20th century, the UWC was instrumental in advocating for Ukraine’s independence, national identity, historical memory, and traditions. The diaspora’s efforts were pivotal in Ukraine’s 1991 independence and international recognition. Today, the UWC advocates globally for Ukraine, counters Russian propaganda, and supports Ukraine’s struggle for independence from Russia. 

 “The UWC is ready to share its knowledge, experience, and perspectives. United, we will prevail!” concluded Grod.
