Mykola-Myroslav Petretskyi, Head of the Union of Ukrainians of Romania (UUR) and UWC Vice President for Eastern Europe, has been re-elected to the Romanian parliament, according to a statement from UUR.
Elections to the national legislature were held on Dec. 1, with the UUR electoral list securing 8,749 votes.
Pro-Ukrainian organizations received significant support from the local electorate.
“These historic results reflect the strong backing of the Ukrainian community. Nearly 90% of Ukrainian communities saw remarkable success, with many securing spots in the top three,” UUR stated.
This year’s result represents a 62 percent improvement over the 2020 outcome.
“Overall, it is the best performance in parliamentary elections since 2008,” the statement added.
The Ukrainian World Congress congratulates UUR and Mykola-Myroslav Petretskyi on his re-election and wishes him continued success in advocating for the Ukrainian community in Romania and Eastern Europe.
These results highlight not only the strong support for UUR but also the effectiveness of its work in representing the Ukrainian community and strengthening ties with Ukraine.
