UWC Vice President offers open invitation to Stus-Fest online festival

The Malvy Literary Club Australia is hosting the Stus-Fest international online festival, celebrating the life and work of Ukrainian poet and dissident Vasyl Stus, who was part of the 1960s literary and artistic generation known as the Shistdesiatnyky (the Sixtiers).

“We warmly invite you to this special event,” wrote Nataliya Poshyvaylo-Towler, UWC Vice President for Southern and Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Türkiye, and Lebanon.

The event will shine a light on lesser-known aspects of the lives of both Stus and his wife, Valentyna Popeliukh, as well as other notable women from the 1960s generation and the dissident movement, who were not only protectors but also shapers of history.

“Alongside our special guests, we will discuss the women whose courage and life stories continue to inspire generations,” the organizers said.

Special guests include Olha Hodovanska, a researcher of the dissident movement and 60s poetry, and Iryna Myronenko, poet, journalist, and editor of the podcast section at the Kharkiv Press Club.

The event will take place on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 10:00 Kyiv time (19:00 Melbourne time). You can join via the provided link.
