UWC Vice President leads conference in the Romanian parliament

The Union of Ukrainians in Romania (UUR), led by Mykola-Myroslav Petretskyi, Vice President of the UWC for Eastern Europe, gathered Romanian, Ukrainian, and Moldovan officials at the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest to discuss the situation in Ukraine. Over 100 representatives from the three countries participated in the event.

At the conference “730 Days of War in the Heart of Europe: Consequences, Realities, and Perspectives at the Regional and Global Levels,” discussions revolved around Romanian-Ukrainian relations, resistance to Putin’s regime undermining democracy in Europe, and the division within Western societies.

Participants deliberated on the trilateral cooperation and support for Ukraine and Moldova from Romania, the prospects of Ukraine and Moldova’s European integration, Russian aggression as a threat to stability, security, and democracy in the region, diaspora involvement in support, as well as the reconstruction and strengthening of Ukraine.

“Romania remains a reliable partner for Ukraine. I thank the Romanian state, my colleagues in parliament, and everyone who has supported and continues to support the Ukrainian people,” said Mykola-Myroslav Petretskyi.

Petretskyi emphasized that the war unleashed by Russia is not only against Ukraine but fundamentally against democracy. “I am convinced that by supporting Ukraine, we will stop the war and live in a world of peace and tranquility.”

During the event, participants observed a moment of silence to honor the memory of the war victims in Ukraine. Before the conference, a photo exhibition on the war was also opened, featuring images from Ukraine by war correspondent Kristian Lupashku from the National Press Agency Agerpres.
