We are excited to announce an upcoming masterclass on “Effective Communication with Government Representatives: Adapting Strategies to New Challenges” taking place this April. This session will be led by Kate Turska, Co-chair of the Ukrainian Association of New Zealand (North) and the head of Mahi for Ukraine.
Turska will share her expert insights on navigating the complexities of engaging with politicians in today’s ever-evolving landscape. Her session will focus on strategies for fostering meaningful dialogue, overcoming barriers, and effectively advocating for the Ukrainian community’s needs during challenging times.
This workshop offers a “valuable opportunity to learn from leading figures and discuss pressing challenges with fellow dedicated individuals,” said Nataliya Poshyvaylo-Towler, UWC Vice President for Southern and Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Türkiye, and Lebanon.
“The network of leaders and heads of Ukrainian organizations within the UWC forms a powerful hub for sharing experience, knowledge, and inspiration. It’s crucial not only to exchange best practices but also to collaboratively develop effective strategies and practical solutions for building a strong global Ukrainian community, fostering dialogue with government bodies, and advancing cultural diplomacy,” she said.
Originally from Ukraine, Turska moved to New Zealand in the 2000s and is now a citizen.
She has been actively involved in the Ukrainian community, previously serving on the committee of the Ukrainian Association of New Zealand (North) and playing a key role in establishing a Ukrainian school in Auckland. She has led the association since 2025.
Following the start of the war in Ukraine, Turska co-founded Mahi for Ukraine, an initiative that supports Ukrainians who have relocated to New Zealand. She is also involved in employment and cultural integration programs, working in partnership with the Red Cross and Te Whatu Ora. In June 2023, she was added to Russia’s sanctions list, and in late 2024, she was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
The event will take place on April 11 at 10:00 AM Kyiv time. You can join the masterclass using the provided link.
