Third Vice President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Andriy Futey met with the newly appointed Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, during the final stage of his six-day advocacy mission to Ukraine, which ended on Nov. 27.
“Our discussion with Ambassador Bodnar focused on strengthening the U.S.-Ukraine-Poland strategic partnership across key areas: military cooperation, humanitarian aid, foreign assistance, and civil society collaboration,” Futey said.
The meeting also highlighted the close cooperation between the Ukrainian and Polish communities in the U.S., particularly the partnership between the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) and the Polish American Congress.
As part of his visit, Futey participated in state ceremonies honoring the victims of the Holodomor. On Nov. 23, the UWC delegation, led by Futey, joined President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, First Lady Olena Zelenska, Ukrainian military servicemembers, and clergy to light a memorial candle at the Assumption Cathedral at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Futey also discussed the future of U.S.-Ukraine strategic relations and the implications of the recent presidential U.S. election with Andrii Sybiha, deputy minister of foreign affairs, and Mykola Tochytskyi, deputy minister of culture and information policy.
In addition, he held consultations with senior advisers from the presidential office, including Ihor Zhovkva, Mykhailo Podoliak, and Roman Mashovets, focusing on Ukraine’s post-election engagement with the U.S.
During an interview with Ukrainian Radio, Futey shared insights into the political landscape following President-elect Donald Trump’s victory and the impact a new administration could have on Ukraine.
He also met with Roman Andarak, Ukraine’s deputy minister of energy for digital development, to explore new opportunities for supporting the country’s energy infrastructure.
A highlight of the visit was his participation in the 20th anniversary commemoration of the Orange Revolution. Futey also had a meaningful meeting with Ukraine’s third post-Soviet President Viktor Yushchenko.
