UWC urges governments worldwide to attend Global Peace Summit

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) is initiating a global advocacy campaign to support Ukraine on the verge of the Global Peace Summit scheduled for June 15-16, 2024, at Bürgenstock Resort near Lucerne, Switzerland.

The UWC urges Ukrainian communities worldwide to engage their governments and leaders to ensure their participation in this critical Summit, jointly organized by Switzerland and Ukraine. To facilitate this effort, the UWC provides a  sample letter and a briefing paper for community use.

“We urge every peace-loving nation to participate in the Global Peace Summit and call on our communities to ensure their nations’ highest representatives are present. During our recent meeting, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the critical role of this Summit in bringing an end to Russia’s war on Ukraine and fostering fair peace in Ukraine. A united global front is essential to counter the aggression from the Russian state,” stated UWC President Paul Grod.

Despite anticipations that 80-100 countries will participate, efforts by the Russian Federation to disrupt or deter participation in the Summit are ongoing. Confronting and ending Russia’s military aggression, which perpetuates the suffering of the Ukrainian people, is essential for global stability and well-being and must be based on justice and respect for international law.
