UWC to blare Global Alarm air raid sirens for all-out war’s 3rd anniversary

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) is holding a Global Alarm event to mark the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Air raid warning sirens will sound across dozens of cities worldwide.

Volodymyr Kogutyak, UWC Vice President for Western Europe and Association of Ukrainians in France (AUF) Vice President, and Chair of the UWC Advocacy Committee, told public broadcaster Suspilne News that  “it is crucial for us that the warnings sound at the same time and on the same day in European cities.”

The initiative aims to give citizens in peaceful countries a glimpse into the daily reality of Ukrainians.

“When we tell our partners that Ukraine is defending Europe, they often see it as an idealized image. The siren, however, will provide a glimpse of the horror that Russia has inflicted on Ukraine,” Kogutyak said.

The event also serves as a reminder that if Ukraine were to stop fighting, such sirens could become a harsh reality for Europeans.

“And Europeans would hear these terrifying sounds, just like Ukrainians do every day, but no longer just as part of a demonstration,” Kogutyak added.

As reported earlier, the UWC is hosting an international online conference on Jan. 20 titled “Anniversary of the Full-Scale War: Effective Advocacy for Ukraine.” Registration for the event is available through this link

On Jan. 11, the Ukrainian World Congress launched a major advocacy campaign ahead of the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, titled “Stand with Ukraine.” The campaign aims to remind the world of the ongoing war’s third year and highlight the devastating impact of Russia’s invasion on Ukraine and the global community. It also calls on democratic governments to mobilize support for Ukraine, increase pressure on Russia to end the war, and restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

The global campaign is supported by the International Center for Ukraine Victory and Communities Army of Ukraine. You can view the campaign materials through this link.
