UWC President promoted investment potential of Ukraine in the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos

On 24-26 January 2018 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij promoted the investment potential of Ukraine in the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The UWC President’s three-day program included participation in a range of initiatives at Ukraine House that was launched this year during the World Economic Forum, the “Davos Ukrainian Breakfast” organized by Ukrainian businessman Victor Pinchuk, and a reception hosted by the Government of Canada. During these events Eugene Czolij met with international high-ranking officials and representatives of business with whom he discussed the recent positive changes in Ukraine highlighting its huge business potential.

On 25 January 2018 at Ukraine House Eugene Czolij had the opportunity to meet with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko whom he assured of the continued support for Ukraine by the UWC and the Ukrainian diaspora that it unites. 

That day the UWC President attended the “Davos Ukrainian Breakfast” during which he thanked Victor Pinchuk for organizing this event which raises the imageof Ukraine and encourages involvement with the country.

Eugene Czolij also attended an evening reception hosted by the Government of Canada where he extended greetings to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and thanked Canada for its leading role in supporting Ukraine.

On 26 January 2018 during the panel “Values-based Business In A Fractured World” at Ukraine House the UWC President addressed participants paying tribute to the work of world renowned Ukrainian economist and philanthropist Bohdan Hawrylyshyn who was co-chair of the first World Economic Forum. Eugene Czolij expressed gratitude to the family of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn for their generosity, particularly to his daughter Christine Batruch who was present at the event and the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Foundation. In addition, the UWC President recognized the organizers of Ukraine House and highlighted its role as an important venue for furthering the economic interests of Ukraine in Davos.

In addition, at Ukraine House Eugene Czolij participated in a session with the Klitschko brothers titled “Creativity, Innovation, Opportunity: The Making of World Champions” and in the following panel discussions: “Emerging Global Tech Hubs” and “Data Science: Ensuring Human Power Over Data” (24 January 2018), “The Emerging Blockchain Network: How It Will Shape And Secure The Future Finance Architecture?” and “Venture Capital Outlook 2018: Challenges And Trends – Where To Expect New Unicorns?” (25 January 2018), and “From Policy To Success Stories: Expanding Frontiers In Global Trade” and “The Rise of Civic Tech And Impact Investing” (26 January 2018).

One of the main organizers of Ukraine House in Davos was UWC Vice President and Chair of the UWC Committee for the Economic Development of Ukraine Olena Koszarny, and the Executive Director of Ukraine House was member of the UWC Group for Cooperation with the Atlantic Council Alexa Chopivsky.

The UWC President was accompanied by Director of the UWC Mission to International Organizations in Brussels Maryna Iaroshevych. Also participating in the initiatives in Davos was President of the UWC member organization Ukrainian Society in Switzerland Andrej Lushnytsky.

“The Ukrainian World Congress congratulates the organizers of Ukraine House in Davos on establishing a very successful venue for panel discussions, meetings and promoting Ukraine among the international community,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
