PRESS RELEASE
UKRAINIAN WORLD CONGRESS PRESIDENT PARTICIPATES IN THE
VIth CONVENTION OF THE ASSOCIATION OF UKRAINIANS IN ROMANIA
On September 30, 2011, the President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), Eugene Czolij, extended greetings to delegates and guests of the VIth Convention of the Association of Ukrainians in Romania (AUR). The convention of this UWC member organization was held in the Romanian city of Timisoara.
Eugene Czolij congratulated them for their successes, including the building of community centres in almost all the cities where the AUR has branches. Another major accomplishment was the election of a representative of the Ukrainian national minority, AUR President Stefan Buchuta, to serve as a Member of the Romanian Parliament.
The UWC President encouraged the AUR’s membership to continue supporting the work of the UWC, particularly its defence of human and national minority rights of Ukrainians and support for Ukraine’s Euro-integration process. He also urged them to actively encourage all Ukrainians to indicate their national identity during the October 2011 Census in Romania.
On October 1, MP Stefan Buchuta was re-elected president of the AUR for another four-year term.
