UKRAINIAN WORLD CONGRESS PRESIDENT PARTICIPATED IN THE
COUNCIL OF UKRAINIAN CREDIT UNIONS OF CANADA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
On October 15, 2011, Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij participated in the Annual General Meeting of the Council of Ukrainian Credit Unions of Canada. The AGM, attended by twenty six delegates representing six credit unions from Toronto, Winnipeg and Saskatoon, was held at the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada centre in Toronto.
Eugene Czolij extended greetings to the delegates, wishing the Council and its president, Olya Sheweli, continued success in future endeavours. The UWC President also informed participants about the work of the UWC in developing Ukrainian community life in the diaspora and defending the human and national rights of Ukrainians in Ukraine and beyond its borders. He also drew attention to the most recent troubling events in Ukraine.
Eugene Czolij expressed gratitude to Ukrainian credit unions for their financial support of the UWC and presented UWC President’s Club certificates “recognizing a significant financial contribution in support of UWC’s work” to Buduchnist Credit Union and Ukrainian Credit Union, both headquartered in Toronto. He also noted the contribution of the Caisse Populaire Desjardins Ukrainienne de Montréal which was previously awarded its certificate of recognition.
Also participating in the AGM was the President of the UWC World Council of Ukrainian Cooperatives, Ihor Laszok, who greeted and congratulated the Council for its successes over the past year, and provided an update on Ukrainian credit unions around the world.
