UWC President on Russian Shame Day and countering disinformation

On May 8, Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Paul Grod addressed Ukrainians during a live broadcast of the United News #UATogether TV marathon and spoke about the global Russian Shame Day information campaign, which is being held for the second time on May 9th and aims to debunk Russian propaganda.

“Immediately after the start of the full-scale invasion, the world learned about a new evil – racism and its totalitarian practices. Therefore, we decided to launch the Russian Shame Day information campaign immediately. It was imperative that the world realized that Russia has turned into the very regime against which the world fought,” commented Paul Grod.

According to the UWC President, the entire world must realize that Russia is using this day of victory to justify its bloody war in Ukraine.

“This is about the deep propaganda role of the “Bezsmertnyi Polk” (“Immortal Regiment”). And today we see that the Russians have organized the “Bezsmertnyi Polk” rallies in several African capitals, China, and Mongolia. So, they continue to impose their own false history on the world,” emphasized Paul Grod. “Ukraine will win, but it will win with the support of its Western partners; we cannot allow this support to diminish because of Russian propaganda.”

Earlier, the Ukrainian World Congress appealed to EU leaders to ban the “Bezsmertnyi Polk” rallies in EU member states and received a positive response from the Special Committee on Foreign Interference in All Democratic Processes in the European Union. The European Parliament is expected to develop and adopt a special resolution to condemn and counter Russian disinformation.
