UWC President meets with Romania’s PM and officials

A delegation from the Ukrainian World Congress, led by Paul Grod, met with the Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, and Romanian officials in Bucharest. The meeting, attended by Stefan Romaniw, the UWC First Vice President and Co-Chair of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO); Jaroszlava Hartyányi, the UWC Second Vice President; and Mykola-Myroslav Petretskyi, UWC Vice President for Eastern Europe, discussed the Ukrainian community, countering Russian disinformation and provocations, as well as Ukraine’s path to NATO and the European Union.

A fruitful meeting of the UWC leadership with Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu in Bucharest. We urged Romania to counter Russian disinformation and provocations and to take a leading role in advancing Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the European Union. Thank you, dear Prime Minister and the Romanian government, for standing strong with Ukraine and for Romania’s powerful support of its Ukrainian community!” wrote Paul Grod.

The parties explored the collaboration between the Ukrainian and Romanian communities. “The Romanian minority in Ukraine and the Ukrainian minority in Romania are true bridges for closer cooperation between our peoples. We, the authorities and organizations, work together to ensure equal rights for national minorities in Romania and Ukraine, stability, and peace for our citizens,” said Ciolacu.

UWC leaders thanked Prime Minister Ciolacu for his ongoing support of Ukrainian communities; Paul Grod presented him with a special UWC award.

The UWC leader also held a series of important meetings with State Adviser Nicolae Comănescu, Senator Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș, Member of Parliament Dan Barna, as well as State Adviser Ciprian-Vasile Olinici.
