UWC President meets with President of Moldova

The President of the Ukrainian World Congress, Paul Grod, met with the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

“We discussed the issue of regional stability and Moldova’s role in supporting it, as well as the Ukrainian diaspora in Moldova. We appreciate the support of Ukrainian refugees, Moldova’s provision of temporary protection and assistance in integrating into society. We emphasized the importance of involving both diasporas in the development of Moldova and Ukraine, attracting talents, investments and political support,” the UWC President said.

UWC President and President Sandu also discussed the creation of favorable conditions for the development of Moldovan and Ukrainian talents in the communities, the security situation in the region, and the necessary steps for the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union. 

“Our country [Moldova] remains committed to supporting refugees from Ukraine and offers temporary protection on the model of the European Union, which ensures integration in the field of work, access to health care services and social assistance,” the President of Moldova said.

The meeting was part of the official visit of the UWC President to Moldova. Paul Grod also visited the Center for Assistance to Ukrainian Refugees, forced to flee the genocidal war unleashed by Russia.

In addition, the UWC President spoke with the Moldovan media. In particular, he gave an interview to TV8.MD.

“We delved into the subject of the Ukrainian diaspora in Moldova, focusing on their invaluable support and efforts in combating propaganda. We also discussed my recent visit to Ukraine, we underscored the crucial role played by the diaspora in negotiations and advocating for Ukraine’s interests. Additionally, we explored the collaboration between the Ukrainian World Congress and various initiatives aimed at providing support to Ukrainians residing in Moldova,” Paul Grod said.
