UWC President meets with Italian Foreign Minister in Berlin

Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress, met with Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on June 11 during the Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Berlin.

The discussions highlighted the significance of involving the Ukrainian diaspora in Ukraine’s recovery efforts, alongside plans for the upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference in Italy, set for 2025. A key focus was also on Italy’s role in peace restoration.

Since January, Italy has assumed the presidency of the G7, with one of the primary topics being Russia’s war against Ukraine. A G7 Summit is scheduled for June 13-15 in the southern region of Apulia. According to foreign media reports, this meeting will be pivotal in shaping the West’s strategy regarding the war in Ukraine.

Leaders are expected to discuss a plan to utilize proceeds from frozen Russian assets confiscated by the West. One proposal involves using these funds to pay interest on an approximately £50 billion loan provided to Ukraine by the international community. The White House has confirmed that US President Joe Biden will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Summit.

Additionally, next week, the G7 will issue a stern warning to small Chinese banks to cease assisting Russia in evading Western sanctions, as reported by Reuters, citing official US sources.
