On 23 April 2017 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij participated in a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the UWC in Rome, Italy, organized by the Christian Association of Ukrainians in Italy, Organizing Committee for EuroMaidan Rome and St. Sophia Association.
The UWC President delivered the keynote address during the commemoration focusing on the key priorities of the UWC with a historical overview including the many achievements of the organization throughout its 50-year history. Eugene Czolij called upon Ukrainians in Italy to continue supporting Ukraine in the defence of its territorial integrity.
The UWC President acknowledged volunteers in the Ukrainian community in Italy with Certificates of Recognition for their contribution to the development of Ukrainian community life in Italy.
The concert program included a screening of the short documentary film 50 years of the Ukrainian World Congress and performances by local Ukrainian artists.
Later that evening Eugene Czolij participated in Divine Liturgy at St. Sophia Sobor.
“The Ukrainian World Congress congratulates the Ukrainian community in Italy on raising awareness of the UWC with its 50th anniversary commemoration and calls for continued cooperation with the UWC in furthering common goals,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
