On 19 October 2014 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij delivered the keynote address in Montreal, Canada, during a commemoration of the anniversary of the formation of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).
He acknowledged and paid tribute to veterans of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, all fighters for Ukrainian statehood and today’s Ukrainian heroes, including the Nebesna Sotnia and soldiers in the ATO zone in Ukraine.
“In this difficult time for Ukraine I appeal to the entire Ukrainian nation for unity, dedication, generosity and faith in our strength for the sake of the most important goal at present – to defend the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
