UWC President completes working visit to Moldova

Paul Grod, the President of the Ukrainian World Congress, paid a working visit to Moldova. In Chișinău, the UWC head met with Maia Sandu, the country’s president.

“We discussed the issue of regional stability and Moldova’s role in supporting it, as well as the Ukrainian diaspora in Moldova. We appreciate the support of Ukrainian refugees, Moldova’s provision of temporary protection and assistance in integrating into society. We emphasized the importance of involving both diasporas in the development of Moldova and Ukraine, attracting talents, investments and political support,” the UWC President said.

The UWC President discussed joint methods of countering Russian propaganda with Oazu Nantoi, a prominent Moldovan politician, Parliament member, and Ukraine-Moldovan Friendship Group Chair.

Apart from that, Grod and Nantoi discussed the issue of working with Moldovan youth, particularly those with Ukrainian roots. “The joint task is to help Moldova’s young people assume a pro-Ukrainian position,” the interlocutors said at the end of the meeting.

The UWC President also met with Kent Logsdon, the United States Ambassador to Moldova. The parties discussed the US support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, the security situation in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, and concerted methods of countering the Russian propaganda machine.

During his official visit, Paul Grod visited the Center for Assistance to Ukrainian Refugees, forced to flee the genocidal war unleashed by Russia. The UWC President discussed the topic of the Ukrainian diaspora in Moldova with the Moldovan media. In particular, he gave an interview to TV8.MD.

The Ukrainian World Congress expresses its gratitude for the help in organizing the working visit to the Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova and its Chairman – Dmitrii Lecartev.
