UWC outraged by Russia’s escalation and nuclear threats

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) is outraged by Russia’s latest reckless escalation and Putin’s nuclear saber-rattling following a Russian intermediate-range hypersonic missile strike on Dnipro. This egregious act of aggression underscores the urgent need for a robust and unified international response.

We call on Ukraine’s allies and the global democratic community to respond swiftly and decisively to Russia’s continued brutal actions against Ukrainian civilians and cities. The time for appeasement is over; decisive action is necessary to curb Russia’s unrelenting violence.

“This is Russia’s answer to appeasement and peace plans: more violence and threats. Putin only understands the language of strength. He accuses Ukraine and the West of escalation, yet it’s Putin who wages this brutal war, annexes Ukrainian regions, brings in North Korean troops, and now tests nuclear-capable missiles on Ukrainian soil. He must be stopped!” declared UWC President Paul Grod.

On November 21, 2024, Russia targeted Dnipro with a hypersonic missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads, followed by threats against NATO countries and their military infrastructure. This latest act of aggression is a stark reminder that the threat from Russia is not limited to Ukraine but extends to the entire democratic world.

“Ukraine’s allies need to act boldly, remove all weapon usage restrictions, and equip Kyiv with everything it needs to destroy Russian weapon depots, drive out occupiers, and restore international order. Western hesitation and indecision only embolden Russia,” added Grod. “We urge the international community to unite and take firm steps to support Ukraine’s defense efforts and safeguard global stability.”
