Paul Grod, the President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC); Nataliya Poshyvaylo-Towler, the UWC Vice President of Eastern, South, and South-Eastern Asia, Oceania, and Africa; and leaders of Ukrainian communities in the countries of South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Melnyk.
“The online conference … became a continuation of the systematic dialogue of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine with the world Ukrainians, another platform for exchanging opinions and seeking practical help for Ukrainians,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The attendees discussed the problems Ukrainian communities faced in the Global South countries, as well as ways to solve the difficulties. In addition, they analyzed the need to consolidate the efforts of the Ukrainian state and Ukrainians abroad to counter Russian disinformation and propaganda. Special attention was paid to the support of Ukrainian Saturday schools and the preservation of the Ukrainian language.
“Ukrainian communities are the “soft” power that helps our country protect its interests and resist the Russian aggressor,” concluded Andrii Melnyk.
Previously, on June 26, leaders of Ukrainian communities in South America held a working meeting with the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Brazil, Andrii Melnyk.
