The Ukrainian World Congress presented awards for an exceptional contribution to the development of Ukrainian life in the diaspora and the development of Ukraine. 44 international organizations representatives received the St. Volodymyr the Great Medal in four categories.
In the collective nomination, the award went to the Association of Ukrainians in Poland Branch in Przemyśl and the Parliament of Estonia. Five politicians were also awarded – Borys Wrzesnewskyj from Canada, Marcy Kaptur from the United States of America, Pauline Latham from the United Kingdom, Chrystia Freeland from Canada, and Diana Varnaitė from Lithuania. The largest number of awardees is the individual nomination. In total, UWC awarded 35 Ukrainian men and women.

Three global Ukrainian leaders were honored with the award posthumously – Yaroslava Halyk, who headed the World Federation of Ukrainian Lemko Associations, as well as Ihor Gawdiak and Rostyslav Khomiak from the Ukrainian American Coordinating Council.
The St. Volodymyr the Great Medal is the highest award of the Ukrainian World Congres, which is presented for an exceptional contribution to the development of Ukrainian life in the diaspora and the development of Ukraine, by the goals and objectives of the UWC and for a significant contribution to the development of the diaspora and/or Ukraine.
The design is based on a silver coin from the time of Volodymyr the Great; the Medal is made of silver with a gilded gold ring.
The nominees were approved by a special Commission, which checked the received applications and materials about the activities of the candidates for the award. The final decision adopted by the UWC Board of Directors was announced during the XII Congress of the UWC on October 22, 2023.
