UWC expresses condolences on the passing of Zenon Lastowiecki

Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) expresses deep sorrow and condolences on the passing into eternity on January 3, 2020, of Zenon Lastowiecki, former member of the UWC Board of Directors and community activist in Great Britain. 

The death of Zenon Lastowiecki is a painful loss for his family, wife Paula and son Myroslav, and the Ukrainian community in Great Britain, and for the UWC and the entire global Ukrainian community that remembers Zenon Lastowiecki as a great Ukrainian patriot, former leader of the UWC member organization Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB), and former member of the UWC Board of Directors and participant of UWC Congresses and Annual General Meetings. 

Zenon Lastowiecki lived in Great Britain where he worked actively for several decades in various spheres of Ukrainian community life including as President of AUGB (2006-2015), Chair and Board Member of the Bradford branches of AUGB and Ukrainian Youth Association, member of the National Executive of the Ukrainian Youth Association in Great Britain, and author of numerous articles and blogs for the newspaper “Ukrayinska Dumka” (Ukrainian Thought). 

For his tireless efforts in strengthening Ukrainian community life in the diaspora and supporting Ukraine in 2018 Zenon Lastowiecki was awarded with the highest UWC honour – St. Volodymyr the Great Medal. 

The leadership and membership of UWC are very saddened by the passing into eternity of Zenon Lastowiecki and pray for the repose of his soul.
