UWC Director of Humanitarian Initiatives and Canadian medical delegation meet with Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Health
On 9 April 2014 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Director of Humanitarian Initiatives Ulana Suprun and a team of five Canadian medical professionals met in Kyiv with Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Sych and Minister of Health of Ukraine Oleh Musiy to discuss practical cooperation between the UWC, the diaspora and Ukraine on health issues.
The Canadian volunteers, led by Khrystia Waler from the Canada Ukraine Foundation (CUF), have travelled to Ukraine to determine priorities for medical training, treatment and technology. This assessment will help determine the most efficient use of Canadian resources for aid and is co‑sponsored by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) and CUF.
Sharing the experience of a two-day visit to the Eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk, the team emphasized with government officials that the intent of the project is to work in all the regions of Ukraine.
“We look forward to working with the Government of Ukraine with the goal of offering support and expertise for health system reforms,” stated UWC Director of Humanitarian Initiatives Ulana Suprun.
