UWC delegation meets Argentine MPs and Senators to promote support for Ukraine

A delegation from the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), led by UWC President Paul Grod, has held a series of crucial meetings with parliamentarians, senators and high-ranking officials of the Argentine Republic. These high level discussions were a part of the UWC President’s mission to South American countries that started on August 2nd.

The intensive working meeting with senators and officials took place on Tuesday, August 6th.  Together with UWC president Paul Grod, the session included Third Vice President Andriy Futey, and UWC Vice President for South America and President of the “Prosvita” Society in Argentina, Jorge Danylyshyn.

The group discussed many important areas of cooperation in the relationship between the Argentine Republic and Ukraine.  The senior figures involved included Argentine MP Ricardo López Murphy, formerly the Minister of Defense and Minister of Economy, Senators Sonia Rojas Decut and Carlos Arce, and Buenos Aires City Councilman Carlos Donati. 

The overall aim of these talks was to focus more attention on Ukraine’s continuing fight for its sovereignty and independence given Russia’s relentless genocidal war, as well as to unite efforts between the two nations, to gain more support of Ukraine.

On the same day, there was an official meeting in Congress between the UWC delegation and leaders and members of the newly formed Argentina-Ukraine parliamentary friendship group. There was a unanimous statement from the members of the parliamentary friendship group to reaffirm their firm support for Ukraine.

Fernando Iglesias, President of the parliamentary friendship group, was resolute in declaring that, “the struggle of the Ukrainian people is a fight for freedom and human rights.”  As reported by parlamentario.com he added that the members of the friendship group adhere to “the idea of a just peace and that Russia should not gain any territorial advantages.”

President of the UWC Paul Grod, President of the “Prosvita” Society in Argentina and UWC Regional Vice President Jorge Danylyshyn, Maria Cristina Zinko, Vice President of the Ukrainian Central Representation in Argentina, Damian Arabia, President of the parliamentary friendship group, Fernando Iglesias, Vice President of the friendship group and President of the International Affairs Committee, Carlos Zapata, member of the parliamentary friendship group with Ukraine, participated in the important dialogue.

During a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine to Argentina, Yurii Klymenko, the UWC delegation discussed key areas of activity and important legislative initiatives that will help consolidate support for Ukraine.

The UWC delegation also had the opportunity to communicate with representatives of Ukrainian media in Buenos Aires and share about the UWC’s daily work on all continents.

Earlier, Paul Grod visited São Paulo in Brazil, where he met with the Ukrainian community and visited the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, which supports Ukraine.
