UWC congratulates President Trump on inauguration, urges support for Ukraine

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, and to JD Vance on his inauguration as Vice President. The UWC anticipates that the new administration will invigorate America, a nation that has consistently championed freedom and led the free world.

The UWC calls on President Trump to stand firmly with Ukraine and its people, to help end Russia’s brutal war of aggression against Ukraine, and to hold the aggressor state accountable for its crimes against the Ukrainian people and international law and order.

“Supporting Ukraine is undoubtedly in America’s interest. Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is not merely a regional land dispute but part of Moscow’s broader strategy to confront the West and dismantle the existing international order, which has underpinned the prosperity of democracies since World War II and enabled the US to emerge as a global superpower,” stated UWC President Paul Grod.

Moscow’s ambitions are actively supported by Beijing and other authoritarian nations, who have been forging alliances and share similar aggressive views on the global order. The increasing coordination among this authoritarian bloc is alarming and is becoming more apparent and formalized through Moscow’s recent strategic partnership treaties with North Korea and Iran. This also poses a significant threat to the Indo-Pacific region, which is of utmost importance to the new US administration.

“The only language Putin understands is the language of strength. While we are grateful for all the assistance provided to Ukraine by its allies, three years of the West’s dithering and lack of decisive action in the Russo-Ukrainian war have emboldened Russia to regroup and inflict even more appalling carnage on Ukraine and its people. The democratic international community needs a strong and decisive leader who will finally take bold action and put Russia, the bully, in its place!” stated Grod.
