The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) expresses sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the terrorist acts committed against the civilian population on 31 January and 1 February 2015 by Russia-backed militants and Russian special forces in the city of Debaltseve, Donetsk oblast, Ukraine.
On 31 January 2015 seven civilians were killed and six injured by indiscriminate rocket fire. On 1 February 2015 terrorists shelled a location from which civilians were being evacuated, including two buses with refugees, resulting in at least 12 injuries.
The UWC strongly condemns these crimes against humanity being committed by Russia and Russia‑backed militants which are intensifying in Eastern Ukraine.
“The Ukrainian World Congress, once again, calls upon the international community to designate Russia an aggressor state, and the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics terrorist organizations, and to not allow these crimes in Eastern Ukraine to go unpunished,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
