April 5, 2025 – The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) strongly condemns Russia’s heinous and barbaric ballistic missile attack on residential areas in the Easter Ukrainian City of Kryviy Rih on April 4, 2025. This strike marks one of the darkest chapters for Kryvyi Rih, the home of President Zelenskyy. Tragically, 18 innocent civilians were killed, including 9 children. The youngest victim was just 3 years old. More than 50 civilians sustained injuries.
Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress, issued the following statement:
“These deliberate attacks on civilians constitute war crimes. We call upon the International Criminal Court immediately launch proceedings against Russia’s political and military leaders and all enablers involved. It is imperative that international sanctions against Russia’s economy be intensified, including a complete halt to the sale of Russian oil and gas. Ukraine must be urgently provided with advanced anti-missile defense systems to stop Russia’s reign of terror and senseless killings. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all the families and loved ones of the victims. May the Memory of the Victims Be Eternal. Вічная Пам’ять.”
Despite attempts by US President Donald Trump to secure a peace deal, Russia continues to attack, murder, and injure civilians across various regions of Ukraine, including Kharkiv, Kherson, Dnipro, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and others cynically and relentlessly. The UWC reiterates its call to the international community to support Ukraine decisively in its fight for freedom and sovereignty.
