The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) calls upon the international community to support a resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) as initiated by Ukraine, on human rights violations in Crimea.

The resolution, to be considered in December 2016, condemns the abuses and discrimination against the residents of the illegally occupied Crimea, including Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars and persons belonging to other ethnic and religious groups, by the Russian occupation authorities; and urges the Russian Federation to uphold all of its obligations under applicable international law.

The UWC appeals to Ukrainian organizations worldwide and all friends of Ukraine to join in raising awareness of the significance of this resolution.

“The Ukrainian World Congress urges all UN member states to support this resolution on human rights violations in Crimea which recognizes the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and the Russian Federation as an occupier,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.

More information on the human rights situation in Crimea is available on the UWC website.
