February 18, 2022 – The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) calls on the international community to immediately denounce provocations, disinformation, and escalation by the Russian Federation (RF) and occupation authorities purporting Ukraine is planning to retake Donbas territories currently occupied by Russia.
Russia is intensifying its mass disinformation campaign, increasing shelling of Ukrainian positions and civil infrastructure with ammunition prohibited by the Minsk agreements, and escalating threats to the security situation.
For more than 8 years, Ukraine has been defending against Russian aggression. Today, Ukraine and its international partners called out Russia’s false claims of an alleged offensive operation by Ukrainian authorities in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
“We urge the global community to loudly call out and condemn provocations and disinformation by Russia and its puppet administrations in the Donbas,” stated UWC President Paul Grod. “We urge Ukraine’s allies to strengthen OSCE SMM in the East of Ukraine and shut down dangerous sources of disinformation and fake news, such as Russia Today.”
