MEDIA RELEASE

UWC calls for political will during Brussels Summit

to advance Ukraine’s Euro‑integration

On the eve of the EU-Ukraine Summit in Brussels, Belgium on 25 February 2013, the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) encourages all parties, being guided by the long‑term best interests of Europe and Ukraine, to demonstrate the political will needed to advance Ukraine’s Euro‑integration.

The signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in 2013 is critical to the region’s security, stability and prosperity, while providing a strong stimulus to democracy and social progress in Ukraine.

In a Kyiv Post article earlier this week, commenting on his plans to be in Brussels on the occasion of the Summit, UWC President Eugene Czolij was quoted as saying, “We (the Ukrainian World Congress) will be asking the European leaders to accelerate that process (Ukraine’s Euro‑integration), and to clearly, in the meantime, reiterate in no uncertain terms, that the EU is very much interested in Ukraine.”

Additional information is available on the UWC web site under “Ukraine’s Euro-integration.”
