The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) calls for the adoption of the draft European Parliament resolution on the situation in Ukraine as proposed by the European Conservatives and Reformists Group.

The draft resolution “strongly condemns the Russian Federation for waging an undeclared hybrid war against Ukraine with the use of regular Russian forces and support for illegally armed groups”; “stresses that Russia’s actions against Ukraine constitute an act of aggression”; “reiterates its call on the Member States and the European External Action Service (EEAS) to strengthen the sanctions and to adopt a clear set of benchmarks which, when achieved, could prevent the adoption of the new restrictive measures against Russia or lead to the lifting of the previous ones, these benchmarks including: the complete withdrawal of Russian troops and mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine, ending the supply of arms and equipment to terrorists, full respect by Russia of the ceasefire regime, the establishment of effective international control and verification of the ceasefire regime and the restoration of Ukraine’s control over its whole territory, including Crimea.”

The draft resolution calls for putting “the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics on the list of terrorist organisations” and invites “Member States to provide military and technical assistance to the Ukrainian armed forces, thereby increasing their combat readiness and capabilities.

The draft resolution also calls for the “Commission and the Member States to step up their efforts in rendering assistance to Ukraine, by organizing a donor/investment conference and cooperating with international financial institutions to define further steps to address the economic and financial recovery of Ukraine.”

“The Ukrainian World Congress calls for the adoption of the draft European Parliament Resolution on the situation in Ukraine which focuses on ending the terrorist activities in Eastern Ukraine and the defence of the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine, including Crimea,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
