The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) has issued an urgent appeal to NATO member states ahead of an extraordinary meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers scheduled for March 4, 2022, calling for the enforcement of a no-fly zone over Ukrainian territory.
The world continues to watch in horror as the Russian Armed Forces indiscriminately inflict carnage on Ukraine and its people. With callous disregard, they bomb peaceful cities destroying critical infrastructure, residential buildings, schools, and hospitals. They pummel missiles at innocent civilians. As of March 2, Ukraine reported over 2,000 civilian deaths including at least 21 children. Soon the number of Ukrainians fleeing the country will reach an astounding one million people.
Acknowledging the support of the international community, UWC President Paul Grod called for immediate action.
“The front line between democracy and tyranny – between civilization and barbarism – runs through Ukraine. NATO has the power to protect Ukrainian civilians. Please use it. We call upon NATO and all its member states to immediately implement and enforce a no-fly zone over Ukraine and provide Ukraine more anti-air defence systems and fighter jets,” appealed Paul Grod.
