The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) is strengthening cooperation with Ukraine’s government to engage the global Ukrainian community and support national unity.
In a recent meeting in Kyiv, UWC President Paul Grod (joining online) and and Head of the UWC Mission to Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko met with Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for National Unity, Oleksii Chernyshov
The discussion focused on closer cooperation with Ukrainians worldwide, promoting national identity, and encouraging more active involvement from the diaspora in supporting Ukraine’s development and resilience.
A principal topic on the agenda was the draft law on multiple citizenship.
The UWC, in partnership with the Ministry for National Unity and the corresponding parliamentary committee, is helping advance the legislation for its second and final reading.
“We’re working together to ensure that Ukrainians abroad stay connected to their roots – and to restore historical justice while creating new opportunities for a diaspora that has always remained committed to its Ukrainian identity,” Chernyshov said.
He described the key role of the UWC as “a strong and consistent partner advocating for Ukraine on the global stage.”
“I’m grateful for their active engagement, support, and lasting partnership. We’re united by a common vision: a strong, democratic Ukraine that draws Ukrainians together, wherever they live,” Chernyshov said. “We look forward to new joint projects and even stronger collaboration in the name of national unity.”
As previously reported, the UWC delegation also met with representatives of Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 22 April.
