Uniting efforts for Ukraine: UWC Vice President Semenov visits Azerbaijan

Leaders of the Ukrainian World Congress work tirelessly as advocates for Ukraine’s interests and to counteract Russian influence on the international stage. Recently, Yevheniy Semenov, UWC Vice President for Middle East and Central Asia, visited Azerbaijan.

The trip began with a productive and engaging meeting at the Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan. “Together with Ambassador Yuriy Husyev, we discussed and outlined the next steps for cooperation with the Ukrainian World Congress, focusing on united efforts to strengthen the development of the Ukrainian community and Ukrainian life in thе country, which is an important part of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations. Our unity is our strength,” Semenov wrote.

The UWC Vice President met with representatives of Ukrainian organizations and key members of the Ukrainian community in Azerbaijan. “We focused on strategic issues related to the development of the Ukrainian community, preserving our cultural heritage, strengthening institutional frameworks, the importance of collaboration to enhance the Ukrainian presence in the country, and cooperation with the Ukrainian World Congress to achieve these objectives,” Semenov explained.

Semenov also discussed the role of youth in Ukrainian communities abroad when he met representatives of the Youth Council under the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussion covered topics such as how to increase youth participation in projects and initiatives, especially in the Middle East and Central Asia, as well as new opportunities for young Ukrainians.

In Baku, Semenov had the honor of meeting with the Ukrainian community and friends of Ukraine in Azerbaijan. “Two hours flew by in the blink of an eye,” the UWC Vice President shared. “This meeting was a valuable opportunity for me to connect personally with Ukrainians and those who hold Ukraine dear and to learn about their achievements, challenges, and the obstacles they face. It is important to note that the Ukrainian community in Azerbaijan makes a significant contribution to strengthening ties between our countries, promoting Ukraine abroad, supporting Ukraine’s interests on the international stage, and aiding Ukrainians who found themselves far from their homeland.”
