Ukrainians in Australia host ceremony for UWC’s highest award

During the Australian celebration for Ukraine’s 33rd Independence Day, the St. Volodymyr the Great Medal – the highest award of the Ukrainian World Congress – was ceremonially presented to three distinguished members of the Australian Ukrainian community, reports Jarema Polatajko, the Chief Financial Officer of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO).

In attendance were – Jarema Polatajko, Kateryna Argyrou, Co-Chair AFUO and member UWC, Tatiana Zachariak, President of the Association of Ukrainians in Victoria (Australia), The Honourable Julian Hill, MP – Assistant Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs.

Kateryna Argyrou pays homage to Stefan Romaniw, long standing Co-Chair of AFUO and 1st Vice President UWC. In her tribute, Kateryna speaks on behalf of the Ukrainian community in Australia, reflecting on Stefan’s achievements and bestows enormous respect and thanks. Rest In Peace!

The recipients of the Award: Tatiana Zachariak, Michael Moravski and Professor Marko Pavlyshyn.

Jarema Polatajko receives a decoration from General-Lieutenant Kyrylo Budanov, being for Assistance in solving the tasks of intelligence activities and merits to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Jarema Polatajko, Kateryna Argyrou, Nataliya Poshyvaylo-Towler and Matthew Guy – Liberal Party member of Victoria (who is a great advocate of Ukraine and his Grandmother is Ukrainian).
