The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes the sixth and last progress report by the European Commission on the implementation by Ukraine of the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan.

The positive report, which highlights the significant headway made by Ukraine to meet the criteria for visa liberalisation, paves the way for the European Commission to present a legislative proposal in early 2016 to the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament to lift visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens holding a biometric passport.

The UWC has been consistently promoting the implementation of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens to the European Union member states that belong to the Schengen area, including during the recent working visit to Brussels by UWC President Eugene Czolij.

“The Ukrainian World Congress commends the Ukrainian authorities on meeting all of the benchmarks set in the second phase of the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan, and thus, taking a critical step toward fully realizing Ukraine’s European integration. The Ukrainian World Congress also calls upon the European Union to promptly lift visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens holding a biometric passport to strengthen ties with them in the best interests of the European Union member states and Ukraine,” commented UWC President Eugene Czolij.
