In a letter to the President of the United States dated 15 June 2017 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij requested that President Donald Trump meet with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko prior to any meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to fully understand the challenges facing Ukraine in its efforts to defend its territorial integrity and simultaneously ensure peace and security in the region.
In this letter the UWC President focused attention on Ukraine’s progress on the path toward full European integration by highlighting two recent major achievements: a) the official signing, on 17 May 2017, of the Regulation on visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens to the Schengen Area states; and b) the approval, on 30 May 2017, of the ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement by the Senate of the Netherlands.
Eugene Czolij also noted Ukraine’s progress on reforms and anti-corruption measures, while defending itself against the vicious hybrid war being waged against Ukraine by the Russian Federation for more than three years.
“The Ukrainian World Congress is confident that Ukrainians can continue to count on the commitment of the United States to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
