On 24 March 2014 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij met in Kyiv with the Patriarch of the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church, Sviatoslav (Shevchuk).
Issues discussed during the meeting included the recent events related to EuroMaidans throughout Ukraine, the active involvement in these events of the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church, and the current troubling occurrences in Ukraine, specifically the occupation of Crimea by Russian troops and the threat of a further invasion of Ukrainian territory.
Both parties noted the importance of mobilizing the global Ukrainian diaspora to secure international support for Ukraine on the issue of the country’s territorial integrity.
“The Ukrainian World Congress will continue to cooperate with the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church and defend its interests,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
