Ukrainian World Congress congratulates AFUO on successful XXIX Conference and TGM

Melbourne, Australia – March 17, 2025 – The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) warmly congratulates the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) on successfully concluding its historic XXIX Conference and Triennial General Meeting this past weekend in Melbourne. Delegates from every state and territory across Australia gathered, highlighting the unity, strength, and dedication of the Australian-Ukrainiancommunity. UWC also extends heartfelt congratulations to AFUO on celebrating its 75th anniversary committed service and impactful contributions to the Ukrainian community in Australia.

Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress, expressed his pride and gratitude, stating:

“I was honoured to participate in person at the AFUO Congress in Melbourne and to deliver the keynote presentation about the vital role of global Ukrainian communities in securing Ukraine’s victory, rebuilding Ukraine, and fostering strong communities worldwide. It was particularly meaningful for me to launch the Stefan Romaniw Youth Leadership Memorial Fund together with Stefan’s wife, Nadia Romaniw, and their children, Petro and Theresa.”

President Grod also warmly congratulated Kateryna Argyrou on her election as Chair of the AFUO:

“I am very pleased to congratulate Kateryna Argyrou as the newly elected Chair of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations, following in the footsteps of my dear friend and irreplaceable leader, Stefan Romaniw. Kateryna has provided dedicated leadership alongside Stefan as Co-Chair since 2019, and I eagerly look forward to collaborating with her and the strong team at AFUO for the continued benefit of our community and Ukraine.”

The Ukrainian World Congress also extends a heartfelt welcome to the newly elected AFUO board members and sincerely thanks the outgoing members—Iryna Andreeva, Jarema Polatajko, and Stephan Chomyn—for their outstanding dedication, hard work, and contributions to the Ukrainian community.
