The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) condemns the killing of well-known Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov who was murdered in the center of Moscow on 27 February 2015.
Boris Nemtsov was one of the few Russian politicians who openly supported Ukraine’s EuroMaidan, raised the illegality of the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, condemned President Vladimir Putin’s military aggression in Eastern Ukraine and campaigned for the release of Nadiya Savchenko, Ukraine’s Member of Parliament, illegally imprisoned by Russian governing authorities.
“The Ukrainian World Congress is deeply saddened by the murder of Boris Nemtsov, an outspoken Russian critic of the authoritarian regime of President Vladimir Putin,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
