Ukrainian World Congress calls upon international community to impose sanctions against individuals responsible for killings and extreme brutality in Ukraine

On 24 January 2014, Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij issued a written appeal focusing on the determined move to authoritarianism by Ukraine’s governing authorities and the brutality of its special units that has resulted in the deaths of EuroMaidan protestors in Kyiv.

The UWC called upon the international community to immediately impose personal sanctions against individuals responsible for the killing and kidnapping of EuroMaidan activists, as well as brutal attacks and shooting on journalists and peaceful protesters.

“The Ukrainian World Congress calls upon the international community to take concrete measures to persuade Ukraine’s governing authorities to refrain from violence and killings in Ukraine,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij. “The Ukrainian World Congress also strongly urges Ukraine’s governing authorities to immediately cease all violence and treat journalists and peaceful EuroMaidan protestors in a civilized manner.”
