The Ukrainian World Congress International Observation Mission to Ukraine’s 2019 Elections (UWC Mission), numbering 219 short-term observers from 16 countries, successfully completed the observation of the first round of the Presidential election, which took place on 31 March 2019, and concluded that the electoral process met international standards for democratic elections.
The final results of the first round of voting are still to be announced by Ukraine’s Central Election Commission but, according to preliminary results, no candidate secured more than 50% of the votes in the first round. There will, therefore, be a second round of voting in the Presidential election on 21 April 2019.
To safeguard a free and democratic electoral process on 21 April 2019, the UWC is calling for more volunteers to join the UWC Mission.If you are a citizen of a country other than Ukraine (except the Russian Federation), currently residing in Ukraine or are willing to travel to Ukraine or one of Ukraine’s diplomatic missions abroad, we look forward to welcoming you to the UWC Mission! At this critical time for Ukraine’s democracy, your active engagement will help the Ukrainian people express their free will in a transparent and democratic vote.

The UWC Mission is headed by the UWC immediate Past President, Eugene Czolij, with UWC Vice President Andrew Futey as Deputy Head of Mission and former UWC Vice President Peter Sztyk as Chief Observer.
