A new Portuguese organization that calls itself the Ukrainian Women’s Society of Portugal has been founded.
Pavlo Sadokha, UWC Vice-President and President of the Union of Ukrainians in Portugal made the announcement on Facebook on Dec. 9.
“The new organization will focus on supporting and advocating for the rights of Ukrainian women and children in Portugal, as well as working for Ukraine’s victory in the war against Russian aggression,” he said.
The founding ceremony in the city of Fátima was attended by Jaroszlava Hartyányi, President of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations (WFUWO) and Second Vice President of the UWC.
“In her speech, she shared the history of the creation of Ukrainian women’s organizations and their union in the WFUWO, highlighting their significant role in preserving the national identity of Ukrainians abroad,” said the WFUWO.
Natalia Varha was elected as the head of the society’s board, with Zhanna Pasichnyk as her first deputy, Sadokha reported.
He also wished the newly established organization “productive work for the Ukrainian cause.”
“Thank you to everyone who contributes to the creation and support of Ukrainian initiatives abroad. Together we are strong!” emphasized the WFUWO.
